"Tri-Valley Times editorial:
Voters should re- elect Karen Stepper and Robert Storer,
and applaud their prudent fiscal planning."
October 14, 2014
Candidates for public office should have at least some sense of the job and the issues. Ram Namburi, candidate for Danville Town Council, doesn’t. Proclaiming he wants to be the voice of the people, he’s running for one of two council seats in the Nov. 6 election against incumbents Karen Stepper and Robert Storer.
Stepper and Storer have done excellent jobs, as has the rest of the council, in ensuring Danville is one of the financially best run cities in the East Bay. No retirement debt, a balanced budget and strong reserves for the next economic downturn. Stepper and Storer are the obvious choices in this race.
As for Namburi, he had some tidbits of campaign themes based on information he heard from some people. He hadn’t bothered to check the accuracy of the claims. And he had no knowledge of the city’s finances.
If he hadn’t run, the city would have saved about $50,000 for the cost of the Town Council election for there were no other challengers.
